Salkantay Trek 4 Days / 3 Nights

We will begin with the pick-up from the hotel at 4:30 am and move to the town of Mollepata, arriving at 8:30 am where we will have a stop to have breakfast and introduce our entire team who will accompany us throughout the Trek in addition to receiving a chat with our guide. Next we will walk for 3 hours. approximately appreciating a great diversity of flora and fauna, later we will arrive at Cruzpata, a place where we will have a short break. Then, we will head to Soraypampa (first camp) to enjoy our delicious lunch. In the afternoon, we will ascend for 1 hour and 30 minutes until we reach Humantay Lagoon (4220 meters above sea level) where we will appreciate the beautiful glacier and the lagoon. At the end of this visit we will descend to Soraypampa where we will have dinner and can rest until the next day under the light of the classic starry sky of our Inca and Cusco mountain range.

We will cross the Salkantay pass at 4,650 meters above sea level, appreciating the Andes mountain range, where you can see the APU SALKANTAY, a sacred mountain since ancient times and the different housing constructions of the indigenous people, we will also appreciate their crops and the raising of their animals such as the llama, the alpaca. Then we will begin the descent to the first town where we will enjoy our lunch (we will choose the place depending on the pace of our movement). Then we will continue our journey until we reach the town of Chaullay, this is a tropical area, with a biodiversity of flora and fauna typical of the area where our camping night will finally be.

We wake up around 6:00 am to have a delicious breakfast and around 7:00 am we will begin the walk to Sahuayaco beach along the Santa Teresa Valley, which is formed by the Salkantay River. Here we will have the opportunity to see plantations such as coffee, bananas, avocados, coca, passion fruit and much more. After walking for around 5 hours we arrived at La Playa, from here, we will board a car to the city of Santa Teresa. That will take about 45 minutes. Upon arrival, we will stop for lunch and then continue by car for 45 more minutes to Hidroeléctrica and then walk for about 2 more hours along the train tracks to the town of Aguas Calientes. Very early we will have breakfast and then walk for approximately 2 hours to the Historical Sanctuary of Machu Picchu and we will take a guided tour that lasts approximately 2 hours here we will observe the “Lost City of the Incas” you will have a pleasant guided tour to visit the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Mark “Intiwatana”, the Royal Quarter, the Temple of the Three Windows and several cemeteries. At the end of the tour we will descend to the town of Agua Calientes to take the train that will take us to the town of Ollantaytambo. From where we will take the transportation to the City of Cusco.
